Darktower Maine Coons was established in 1997, we specialise in breeding solids, but we do breed many other colours as well. Darktower is a small cattery, breeding for type and temperament, run by Jacky and Darren. We live on the border of Stretford and Chorlton in Manchester, in the Old Lodge in Longford Park. Jacky is a Burns Outreach Nurse Specialist and Darren works as a Senior Resource Manager for BT. Jacky became interested in Maine Coons after seeing Grand Champion (Gr. Ch.) Coonquest Oscar ofBeardwood at a show, one glance and she was hooked! Jacky acquired her first Maine Coon in 1997 and we now have six lovely cats and their best mate,Butch the Chihuahua. After deciding to breed we needed to find a suitable prefix. For all you Stephen King fans, you may recognise that DARKTOWER is part of a trilogy written by him and Stephen King comes from Maine in New England, the birthplace of Maine Coons. Jacky has always had an interest in cats and has been a Cat Protection League homing officer before becoming a member and Chairman of the Maine Coon Cat Club committee. She is currently the Rescue and Welfare Officer, which involves keeping a database of Maine Coons that need re-homing. She is also being trained in Show Management.
